QCC KapaHaka
Kapahaka
We often combine with other colleges in the area in an effort to promote the local area's history. This is portrayed in the maori songs and haka we learn.
Drama
Drama is a relatively new subject option at Queen Charlotte College. There is a new focus on Process Drama. Process Drama encourages students to participate in teacher-directed theatre sport-type activities. Students are encouraged to develop their skills and to gain confidence through self-directed learning.
Choir
The choir welcomes participation from students of all year groups within the College and provides innovative and fresh opportunities for choral expression with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment of music. Several local choral competitions and festivals provide opportunities for the choir to perform away from the College.
Manu Korero
Manu Korero is an annual Maori language speech competition held to enhance the practice of the Maori language. It provides our students with the opportunity of sharing their ideas both in Te Reo Maori and English.
Wearable Designz
Wearable Designz is an amazing visually stunning stage production held at the College every second year in which all Year 7 and 8 students participate. Of course many of our older students leap at the chance to be involved too and we are very lucky to have wonderful support from some of our creative community members who add to this extravaganza with their expertise.
Each production has a theme - the latest being "Kiwiana". There are rules for composition and construction and the ideas and the quality of garments that the students produce is quite extraordinary. The event provides creative fun not just for the College but for the wider community of Picton who always give it their full support
Production
Held every alternate year to Wearable Designz, students audition for roles and the play is presented to the local community.
